Kronos 2 88
KORG KRONOS2 88The ultimate workstation. All of Korg's technology in a single keyboard, making it the paragon of the complete workstation. The arrival of the Kronos made a big impression as soon as it was presented at NAMM in Los Angeles: a professional multi-synth workstation with an audio/midi sequencer and the Karma V2 system. The 4 keyboard versions (61, 73, 88 and 88 weighted notes for the LS) give it real versatility. The Kronos2 goes far beyond the most powerful workstations of today, and is virtually unrivaled in any price range. So yes, it's clear, the Kronos2 is the workstation reference...A beast of the stage! The Smooth Sound Transition (SST) technology guarantees smooth transitions by allowing effects and voices to overlap during sound changes. This opens up a wide range of possibilities for demanding musicians. In addition, the Kronos2 offers 197 different effect types, including chorus and delay effects, amp models, a vocoder and many more. Don't look for it, it's all there!Instant Karma. The Karma (Kay Algorithmic Music Architecture) function provides access to an incredibly flexible interactive Midi data generator. Much more than a simple arpeggiator, this function combines many different algorithms to become a powerful music generator that will follow your playing step by step. Similarly, stereo sampling allows you to capture audio data from any of the Kronos' analog or digital inputs.Midi and audio sequencer.16 Midi tracks and 16 audio tracks (24-bit, 48 kHz) allow you to record all your ideas directly to the Kronos2. In addition, you can import and export SMF and WAVE files if you happen to be working with other platforms.Connection to a computer and storage via USB.Connect the instrument to your computer with a USB 2.0 cable and exchange audio and Midi data with software workstations. By the way, the Kronos2 editing software allows you to edit sounds directly on the computer. An exceptional musical interface. In addition to its large TouchView color LCD display, the Kronos2 provides a wide range of physical controllers (sliders, switch controls, joysticks and ribbon) that give you complete and direct control over your music. The term "workstation" takes on its full meaning here.

Oberheim
OB-1
Analogical tank from the 1978s with which we quickly spend hours on bass sounds, with 2 synchronizable VCOs. Rare with less than 650 copies, there is a grey version OB-1A. 1750 copies in total. The 6-page Oberheim OB-1 manual is typewritten (true, it can be found on the Internet), but it is not really needed in sound design, except perhaps to position the buttons to be able to record a sound on the 8 available memories (which store the positions of 33 potentiometers or buttons, almost all of them), as this cannot be invented. The OB-1 sends heavy, even if its keyboard is very cheap and makes a hell of a noise. In any case, it can be ordered with conventional CV-IN 1 volt per octave. The pinball pitch is huge.It is recommended in the instructions for use to wait 5 minutes for the circuits to be stabilized. This is clearly another way to conceive a sound, with fabulous surprises in the percussive basses, noise, boat engine noises, factory purring. Finally, no need to look for a MIDI interface on the OB-1.Source: vintage stock copy tested, service manual.

Korg
Poly 800 II
Korg released the Poly-800 II in 1985. The structure of the previous model remained an 8-voice single oscillator DCO synthesizer with the front panel matrix editor.Compared to its predecessor Poly-800, this new model has 2 DCO. It also now sports a 1000 event sequencer, programmable EQ, digital delay instead of chorus only effect, and the black/blue color scheme was now like its cousin the DW-8000.
