akai mpx 16
The MPX16 is a new portable sample player, with .WAV sample recording capabilities using SD memory cards as support, providing ease and reliability for live performance or studio situations. Like the popular MPX8, samples are triggered internally via the ultra-sensitive MPC-style pads or from an external MIDI device via the USB/MIDI link or MIDI input connector. Conversely, the MPX16 pads can also control other MIDI devices in your studio.Samples are recorded in CD quality via the two 6.35mm jack audio inputs or via the built-in stereo microphone and saved to an SD memory card. Users can then assign their samples to the various pads of their choice and apply tuning, filter and envelope functions to create their own dynamic performances. The LCD screen and the backlit Pads allow a visualization of the playing information during the use. It is of course possible to load your own existing samples on an SD card to use them with the MPX16 and assign them, at your convenience, by simple drag and drop thanks to the supplied Mac and PC editing software.

AKAI FBX 8
An SD card-based sample player is simple. But the MPX8 controller offers much more! There are big, inconvenient, expensive and really crappy controllers. And then there is the MPX8: small, handy, powerful and cheap. Why make it complicated when you can make it simple? The principle here is to load any sample via an SD card, then assign it to one of the eight pressure and velocity sensitive pads. All you have to do is to play these pads on a case with intuitive ergonomics and an ultra-practical format thanks to its reduced dimensions, allowing it to be used in a bedroom, or in a studio, depending on the situation, as well as in a concert configuration.A complete connectivity.Powered via a USB port, the MPX8 offers all the necessary connections with stereo audio and headphone outputs, Midi input/output in mini jack format and, of course, a port for SD card. Very practical to take in hand and even to store in your handbag, ladies, or in your briefcase, gentlemen, it has about twenty on-board sounds that allow you to test it in the second following its unpacking by using, if necessary, the integrated reverb or the Tuning function to embellish the case.A guaranteed success.Although it includes a sound bank, the major interest of the MPX8 lies in the reading of the samples you will feed it with! A quick and easy loading thanks to the SD cards which can contain up to 32 gigs, plenty to do in all circumstances. An ease of use that should ensure its success, whether with deejays, MCs in general and musicians of course who will have a cheap drum machine with excellent samples drawn here or there.Everything is provided. In short, the MPX8 is a portable, all-purpose sample player that will delight, at a lower cost, those who have not yet tasted the pleasures of sampling as well as nomad musicians. By the way, don't forget that the creation of your samples and their possible settings will have to be done on a computer. But don't worry, Akai has foreseen everything by providing, free of charge of course, an editing software, compatible with Mac and PC, which will allow you to save and parameterize the sounds stored on the SD card with a simple drag and drop or a mouse click.
