Vic Firth - 5A American Classic Hickory

Vic Firth

Vic Firth - 5A American Classic Hickory

A musician first and foremost. Prior to conducting the brand that still bears his name today, the late Vic Firth was first and foremost an accomplished percussionist who practiced his art under some of the greatest conductors in the Boston Symphony Orchestra. His first pair was designed to meet the needs of a piece of music for which he wanted a special sound and touch. Assisted by the world's greatest drummers, the brand's designers have maintained this requirement to market - among other things - this American Classic series, which includes the basis of models designed to adapt to each hand and, above all, to each musical context. The 5A, the flagship and versatile model par excellence. If one asks oneself the question of the choice of a pair of mallets, one will go for a 7A for a child, and a 5A for an adult. In all manufacturers and of course in Vic Firth, this model has similar characteristics: a handle that holds well in the hand, a balanced weight, a profile cut for all electric music and a tear-shaped olive that is suitable for all types of cymbals and skins. Undeniable quality. With this 5A or its big sister (X5A, slightly longer and thicker neck) and the thirty or so references grouped in this series, we are dealing here with a hyper accomplished production. Is it useful to specify that at Vic Firth, the quality of the wood is never lacking, that the sticks are perfectly straight, and above all, that they are matched with non-negotiable criteria of requirement and precision? Kitsch aficionados will appreciate to learn that this 5A is also available in black and... in pink!

Vic Firth - 5B American Classic Hickory

Vic Firth

Vic Firth - 5B American Classic Hickory

A programmed evolution. The 5B has not always been the standard in the hands of drummers, and it can even be said that the length and thickness of the sticks has evolved a lot since the jazz era and the beginnings of rock n' roll. There are two reasons for this. The first one is that the cymbals were thinner, and that the drummers were looking for the bounce, with a rather short length and a very tapered neck. The second is that the amplification was not yet at its peak, and the music didn't need a very high sound level for the drums. Today, the Vic Firth 5B are adopted by a large majority of musicians. A fleshy body to be desired. The relationship to the instrument having thus radically changed, the drummer demands less use of rebound, and therefore of his fingers. It is quite naturally that a manufacturer like Vic Firth, always attentive to the demands of instrumentalists, developed from the 1970s onwards models generating more power, with a shorter neck and a neck that fits well in a closed hand. The result is a hickory stick with a forward weight and a tear-shaped olive. Enough to hit a thousand times without ever having to force it. An unfailing quality. If all the quality parameters were not met, all this would be in vain. And yet, in this matter, it's a little Vic Firth who sets the tone. Whether it is the origin of the wood, the perfect size of the sticks, the varnish (neither too thin nor too thick) or the pairing, everything is done to deliver the best to the user. In terms of solidity, the blows can be delivered without fear, especially with a supple and ample gesture. Even for a hard game, these 5Bs will last a very long time!

Vic Firth - Heritage Brushes

Another pair of sleeves. All the drummers who've played with them will tell you: playing broomsticks is a different story! And it's precisely in the history of drumming that we find the genesis of these strands of steel that were born to help drummers play softer in certain contexts. It is of course jazz that gave the brooms their letters of nobility and mastering them not only brings another sound colour, but also makes it possible to use the sticks even more easily. Designed for tradition. The brooms do not bounce off the skin or the metal of the cymbals. In order to satisfy a wide variety of uses, many models exist today. The thickness of the handle can vary, as can the material (wood, hard plastic, rubber...), but it is mainly the quality and the number of strands that will determine the sound produced. The Vic Firth HB brushes are both traditional in terms of fineness and number of strands, and quite modern, as the handle offers a very ergonomic grip. The metal is soft enough to perform all the tricks without too much force and the rubbing is easy to achieve without pressing too much on the skin. Retractable and durable. The Vic Firth HB are of course retractable with two possible positions, depending on the desired length. Once they have been adjusted, connoisseurs can choose to store them directly in the tube provided, without ever having to tuck them into the handle again. This will increase their lifespan, even though this model is not fragile in any way. The small ring can be used to mark glissandos on the surface of your cymbals or small figures on their bells, if necessary... In any case, it will be quite an art, all in delicacy.

If drumming is more than a hobby to you, you need a kit that allows you to reach your highest level. The V-Drums TD-17 series allows you to put all aspects of your technique to work and take it to the next level.Combining a tone generator inherited from the TD-50 with sophisticated pads, the V-Drums TD-17 series offers affordable electronic drum kits that will give you a feel for playing like an acoustic drum set. They will react to every movement of your hands and feet, every intensity of your sticks. The built-in coaching features will also allow you to evaluate your technique, measure your progress and increase your desire to play. Becoming a better drummer requires hard work, and TD-17 can help you do just that. er.Quality sounds for quality playingThe TD-17's tone generator delivers a high-end rhythmic experience with Prismatic Sound Modeling technology, inherited from the TD-50 star module. Start playing and you'll be amazed at the range of dynamics produced, as well as the accompanying changes in timbre, depending on where and how hard you hit the pad. From rim shots, rolls, flasks and ghost notes on the snare, to powerful hits or crescendo rolls on the cymbals, to semi-open play on the hi-hat, with different sounds on the rim and body: each of your playing nuances is detailed, precise, and seamless. The feel of an acoustic kitA nice bass drum usually produces a beautiful, powerful sound. Sometimes that's exactly what you need, but your friends and neighbors may not agree. The KD-10 bass drum pad makes little noise thanks to its rubber coating and special cushioning, but still provides that ideal bass drum sound when the bat is pressed into the head. This makes it perfect for playing at home, where volume can be a problem. It is compatible with all bass drum pedals, single or double. The essential tool to improve your playingRemember, a drummer needs to be able to hold a beat before he can play complicated rhythmic patterns. But working on the basics can still be exciting, as they provide a solid foundation for the rest of the skills to be learned. And let's not forget that measuring your progress is also very motivating. The TD-17 module includes a Coach mode to help you work on a daily basis. You can warm up, develop your sense of groove, tempo and placement, and even work on your consistency, all while getting a score that tells you how well you're doing.Deepen your sense of grooveRefine your internal tempoQuiet Count mode helps you refine your sense of tempo and placement. During the first few bars, the click sounds at the selected volume, then disappears during the following bars. During these quiet measures, you must rely on your internal tempo so that you have not slowed down or accelerated when the click becomes audible again. The more you use this mode, the more accurate your internal tempo will be.Facilitate an effective warm-upWarmUp mode makes your daily work more enjoyable, and will make you want to use it even more. You can choose to warm up for five, ten or fifteen minutes, varying the difficulty, and then choose a tempo. A range of exercises will then prepare you for intense work on the instrument, with changes in rhythm, tempo, and measuring the precision of your playing. At the end, you will get an overall grade, which you will surely want to improve the next day.Preparing to play on stageWhen rehearsing, it is important to play with the same sounds that you will use on stage. The TD-17 features a wide range of expressive, modeled drum sounds inherited from the high-end TD-50 module. This ensures that you'll find the perfect drum sound to prepare for the gig.Pressure-free performance for years to comeRoland's V-Drums are reliable, from the sound module to the pads to the pedals. Every component is designed to work for you no matter what your playing style. The TD-17 series of pads and pedals are built to last while remaining playable. As you progress on the instrument, you can upgrade your TD-17 setup by adding a crash cymbal or a second snare drum, ensuring that you're using equipment that many professional drummers use.
