Founded in 1885 by Henri SELMER, a renowned clarinetist with the Garde Républicaine and the Opéra Comique, Henri SELMER Paris continues a tradition of excellence in the service of musicians. Designed in France for over a century in its workshops in Mantes-la-Ville, our instruments - clarinets, saxophones and mouthpieces - carry the high standards of the musicians who conceive them and the passionate craftsmen who make them. Since Henri SELMER, himself a renowned clarinetist, the role of the musician-designer has been essential to the development of Henri SELMER Paris instruments. Before leaving our workshops, our instruments are tested and certified by professional musicians. Last but not least, the history of Henri Selmer Paris would not have been the same without the trust of all the musicians who, for more than a century, have made our instruments resound all over the world. The clarinet was the first instrument developed by Henri SELMER, a renowned clarinetist with the Republican Guard Orchestra and the Opéra Comique. Thanks to the constant relationship maintained with generations of clarinetists of all cultures and all levels, Henri SELMER Paris is able to offer each artist an original proposal adapted to his musical personality. Located in Mantes-la-Ville (France) for a century, our workshops are today the only one in the world with the know-how to manufacture the whole clarinet family. The name Henri SELMER Paris is above all associated with the saxophone, which represents more than half of its activity. Since the release of the first Model 22 saxophone in December 1921, each new model, from the Cigar Cutter to the Mark VI, including the Super Action and the Balanced Action, has highlighted the innovative strength of Henri Selmer Paris. The contributions of the greatest names in jazz, classical and contemporary saxophone, from John Coltrane and Marcel Mule to Kenny Garrett and Claude Delangle, have gradually enriched the SELMER saxophone. Thanks to his long experience as a wind instrument maker and his deep knowledge of the saxophone world, Henri SELMER Paris has imposed a sound that has become THE reference worldwide.
