Every Simon & Patrick acoustic guitar is built with tone and quality in mind. Certain features common to all the guitars in the range capitalise on this ideal, such as the exclusive use of select solid tops, allowing for maximum response and a full, rich tone. But it's not enough to say that we offer solid top guitars. That's why we at Simon & Patrick feel strongly about the importance of making outstanding solid tops. Premium pressure tested solid tops are found on all S&P guitars. Calibrated and tested with special equipment designed specifically for our guitars, this method of pressure testing each solid top ensures the highest level of stiffness and maximum harmonic vibration. This benefits the overall tone, projection and resonance of these carefully crafted instruments. So, while these select solid wood tops are of considerable beauty and appeal, they are calibrated and pressure tested, giving them their excellence and structural integrity which ultimately benefits the player and extends the life of the instrument. All models also have compound curve tops, which increase their structural integrity and overall projection. These select solid wood tops are further reinforced with a very strong and exceptionally light bracing made from Adirondack spruce. All Simon & Patrick guitars also feature the new Fixed Integrated Neck System, providing additional strength and reinforcement to the all-important area where the body meets the neck. The fixed integrated neck system also allows for a smoother, more stable action while greatly reducing the risk of neck twisting, largely caused by climate changes. The fixed integrated neck system, combined with the compound curve table, eliminates the pressure exerted by the fingerboard on the soundboard. A dual function steel rod is found in Simon & Patrick guitar necks, each covered with an Indian rosewood fingerboard. The bridges are fitted with Tusq posts and compensated saddles made by Graphtech. The finish on these carefully crafted instruments is another essential element that benefits the sound. We only use a true custom finish on every Simon & Patrick acoustic guitar. The end result is stunning and has been dubbed the "Custom Polished Finish". This custom polished finish process is used on both high gloss and semi-gloss guitars. While providing good protection against scratches and pick marks, this is the finest finish we have ever produced. Reminiscent of the French polished finish of the 19th century, this new finish gives the semi-gloss a satin sheen and the high-gloss a beautiful sheen while accentuating the natural wood grain quality. This custom finish, unlike the thick polyester finish, gives the soundboard protection and allows it to breathe and vibrate freely, allowing for the all-important aging process. This aging process means that all Simon & Patrick acoustic guitars will sound better and better the more they are played.
