The S900 sampler was Akai's first truly professional sampler, released in 1986. Its sampling specifications were professional quality for its time: 12-bit stereo sampling, variable sampling rates from 7.5 kHz to 40 kHz, and a maximum of 63 seconds of sampling time at 7.5 kHz. Up to 32 samples can be created and stored on disk with all editing parameters. It was one of the first rack-mounted samplers to use a built-in disk drive. Although the drive could load sounds while you played, the process was still very slow.The editing and programming of the S900 is a very good precursor to the advanced S3000 series. There are plenty of advanced editing capabilities for looping, truncation, velocity crossfading, tuning and even analog parameters to control. Individual outputs for each of the eight voices, a stereo mix output, stereo input, MIDI and trigger inputs complete this machine as a professional sampler with vintage status that is still very useful, even for today's musicians!

The evolution of the MPKmini obviously includes everything that made its success: the grouping in a compact and robust chassis, the 25-key Midi keyboard and the backlit MPC-type pads sensitive to velocity, the 8 control knobs freely assignable thanks to the dedicated editing software, as well as the classic function keys directly from the MPC family, such as Note repeat and Full level. The MPKMINI mkII also includes a configurable arpeggiator whose configurations can be saved in two memory banks, allowing the use of different software, each with its own settings. Mini, but complete! The MPKmini mkII is aimed at both experienced musicians, already using music production software for a better grip, and beginner producers who will be able to gradually discover, thanks to the included software pack, the wonderful world of CAM with the MPC Essentials software, VIP 3, the Hybrid 3 plugins from Air Music Tech and Wobble from Sonivox, as well as the MPKmini Editor which will allow you to modify all the assignments of the MPKmini mkII.
