Sound box from the 90's type "Art of Noise" or Roland D-50, simple and efficient, with a simple placement in a Rock/Pop/Variety mix. With a little more features than the D-110, still as strong in a deep 1U rack. Bass, choirs, and string brass sounds are interesting - layering sax/brass/trumpet by playing with pitch for example. The acoustic pianos are... dated! You may like some of them. Good built-in chorus and reverb effects.

Warm, mellow and fat analog sounds, one of Roland's best expanders, built like a tank in 1994. TR-808 sounds are included in the presets. The dynamic leads and rich strings of the 90s are yours! Useful for dubbing VST sounds for example, fits well in a mix with a wide range of generalist sounds: A sound bank: wurlizer, Fender Rhodes, Hammond, acoustic pianos. Bank B: electro bass like Moog or Korg MS-20. Bank C: analog leads, choirs, string pads, and special effects (film music for example). Quality effects. Note the TB-303 preset ready. The demo song "Rave" included in the JV-1080 is impressive: you get close to scratch vinyl or vocoder sounds with the sounds and effects on board.

Proteus 2 XR
The Proteus 2XR Orchestral is a digital synthesizer in a rack or break more precisely. It cannot record audio or generate a waveform. This is not its function. It is not for all that uninteresting, on the contrary!It integrates 384 very high quality samples and offers 3 assignable stereo outputs (jack 6.35). Few parameters can be modified, it is very easy to use.The samples come from orchestral instruments (violin, horn, flute, string... but no piano) and can be grouped. They are divided into 5 sound banks. The quality of the sounds is just incredible, totally organic and really true to reality, bluffing!!! There are a few analog synthesizer soundsNote that the range and tablature of the original instruments is respected.

U-110
Produced before the U-20 and U-220, the U-110 is a rack-mounted basic sound module consisting of acoustically oriented PCM samples with preset settings. It was Roland's first fully digital, sample-based synthesizer. Most of the sounds come from the S-50's Roland library. It is a very versatile unit: PIANO, VIBRAPHONE, BELL, MARIMBA, GUITAR, BASS, CHOIR, STRINGS, ORGAN, WIND, DRUMS. The use of the 4 SN-U110 serial PCM card ports is a must. You can find famous sounds from the D-50 (08-01: FANTASIA, 08-04: BREATH VOX, 08-08: RICHBRASS, 08-28 NATIVE DANCE), or the JUPITER (09-12: JP.STRING, 09-13: JP. BRASS1) or originals (02-34: ORCH HIT, 09-10: HEAVY EG 1) largely integrated into the U-20/220. The SN-U110-07 includes no less than 71 electric guitars (jazz, overdrive, distortion). Nevertheless, in the internal programs, there is a very good "cocote" guitar in I30, an excellent fretless in I50, and a shakuhachi in I97 to make it exotic. There are 6 reassignment tables that allow the creation of General MIDI maps (in edition, go to SETUP :MAP, and match the sounds (Internal or X Map) to the desired "program change" number).
